Follow-on and Booster Workshops

Deepen learning with advanced, evidence‑based memory strategies that build independence and confidence.

What we offer

1

Years 8-9 : Next-level Memory Skills

Next‑Level Memory Skills is designed as a progression workshop for students in Years 8 and 9 who have previously taken part in one of our study skills sessions. As pupils begin to take greater responsibility for their learning, this workshop strengthens their confidence by revisiting core techniques before extending them with more advanced strategies.

The session begins with a review of the memory approaches introduced in earlier workshops, ensuring students have a solid foundation. It then builds on this knowledge by introducing more sophisticated methods, including advanced memory techniques, time management, organisation strategies, and our practical Review and Recall Strategy.

Students are encouraged to bring their own classwork so they can apply these techniques directly to subjects of their choice, helping them see the immediate value and real‑world impact of the strategies.

By the end of the workshop, learners are equipped with a stronger, more refined toolkit that supports effective study habits, boosts confidence, and prepares them for the increasing demands of KS3 and beyond.

Years 8-11 : Memory in Action

Memory in Action is designed for students in Years 8–11 who are ready to take their study skills further by applying proven memory strategies directly to their subjects. The workshop begins by revisiting the core techniques introduced in earlier years, ensuring students have a strong foundation before progressing to more advanced, practical methods.

The session focuses on showing students exactly how to use memory strategies effectively within real subjects. By working with their own classwork, pupils learn how to apply techniques such as advanced memory strategies, dual coding, effective flashcards, and the Review and Recall Strategy to the specific content they need to remember.

This workshop is particularly valuable for helping students retain subject‑specific details such as quotes, formulas, units, key terminology, and case studies.

By practising the strategies in real time, learners gain confidence in using them independently and see how tangible and effective the methods truly are.

Years 10-13 : Mastering Advanced Memory

Mastering Advanced Memory is designed for students in Years 10–13 who are ready to refine and elevate their study and revision strategies. As learners take increasing responsibility for their own progress, it is common for them to feel unsure about where to begin, how to organise their revision, or which techniques are most effective. This workshop provides clarity, structure, and advanced tools to support independent study.

The session begins by revisiting key strategies introduced in earlier workshops before extending students’ skills with a range of sophisticated, research‑informed techniques. These include dual coding, effective flashcard use, and the Review and Recall Strategy, alongside approaches such as spaced practice, interleaving, and self‑quizzing.

Students are encouraged to bring their own classwork or revision materials so they can apply these strategies directly to a subject of their choice, ensuring immediate relevance and practical impact.

By the end of the workshop, learners are equipped with a powerful set of advanced memory tools that enhance independence, reduce overwhelm, and support high‑quality revision across all subjects.
