Parents

Clear, practical strategies that help parents support learning with confidence.

What we offer

1

Parent & Child Study Toolkit
(1–2 hours)

This interactive workshop brings parents and children together to learn the core study skills that make the biggest difference to progress, confidence, and independence.

Families explore simple, evidence‑based memory techniques and practical revision strategies they can use at home straight away. The session is fun, hands‑on, and designed to strengthen the partnership between home and school.

What we cover:

  • How memory works — working memory, long‑term memory, cognitive load

  • Spaced practice & retrieval practice — the most effective ways to revise

  • Interleaving & the Leitner system — smarter, more efficient recall

  • Visual Learning Maps & graphic organisers — how to condense and structure information

  • Dual coding & effective flashcards

  • Time‑management strategies — Pomodoro, planning, prioritising

  • Growth Mindset & motivation — how beliefs shape behaviour

  • Building independence — guiding without taking over

  • Reducing stress at home — calm routines, healthy habits.

Parents and children leave with a shared understanding of how to study effectively — and a toolkit they can use together throughout the school year.

2

Parents Evening
Study Skills

This workshop is designed for parents whose children have already taken part in a Study Skills Day.

It builds on what students have learned and gives families the knowledge and confidence to reinforce these techniques at home. The session explains the science behind effective learning in a simple, accessible way and offers practical tools for supporting revision, motivation, and wellbeing.

What we cover:

  • The strategies your child learned — a clear overview of the techniques used in school

  • Memory techniques explained — spaced practice, retrieval practice, interleaving, Leitner

  • How to support revision at home — routines, planning, environment

  • Visual Learning Maps & note‑making — helping students organise information

  • Motivation & mindset — encouraging effort, resilience, and self‑belief

  • Managing stress & overwhelm — calm communication, realistic expectations

  • Building independence — how to help without doing the work for them

Parents leave with a deeper understanding of how their child learns — and practical ways to support them through homework, revision, and exam preparation.
